Interesting...

OK, so I forgot to set my timer today and have been on the computer longer than I am supposed too. But I wanted to share this very interesting article that I read. Ben and I are going through that whole " are we really done having children?" conversation. There is a LOT that goes into that...his deployments, all the kids are finally in school, my weight, what I can handle & what I can't etc. etc. So I found this article interesting. If you read it, let me know what you think!

Here is the link:

**** I can't get the link to work. You are going to have to copy and paste or do something. sorry. Here it is http://makinghome.blogspot.com/2008/09/some-subtle-effects-of-birth-control.html

Wow, what a great post! She was right on with what I would think.

It's a hard decision Marie. I know exactly what you're going through. You can listen to others opinions, but I wouldn't (except mine of course LOL) All I can do is tell you what I've learned from experience. Lots of people told me that I should have waited to get pregnant with Vance because Chad was deployed when he was born. (We didn't know that would be the case at the time, though) It was hard to deliver without Chad. I swear I'd never do it again, BUT, if I hadn't I wouldn't have Vance! and what a very sad life ours would be without him! He is an amazing blessing to our family.

The decision you guys are trying to make is yours and yours alone. It's between you, Ben and the Lord. I know you want to anticipate deployments, your kids being in school, and even your weight, but, my advice, put everything aside, EVERYTHING, kneel down with Ben and ask the Lord if it's right. I can tell you by personal experience it's the only way you'll find peace in this question. Good Luck! :0)

There is some that I agree with and some that I don't. She had some great points. I am one who says wait a little bit when you are first married. But Christian and I only dated for a few month before getting married and weren't that old yet. And I don't believe in accidents. Birth control does work if it doesn't then usually it is because it wasn't used right and so it is not an accident. But I am the total planner. Maybe even a little CRAZY. Luckily for us we don't have to decide right now if we are done right now since we are obviously getting a new little one. But I agree that is a hard decision. Good luck!!

That was an interesting article. In the end, it's as Cindy said (and put very well) it is ultimately up to you and Ben and Heavenly Father if you have any more children. If you feel that's what you should do, then do it. Don't get hung up on statistics (another baby with autism) if that's what you're worried about, because really if you were pregnant and found out your baby had down syndrome, or something else I know it wouldn't matter to you anyway. If you feel you're done, then you are. And no offense, but if you really feel you're done, then NO ONE else should pressure you into feeling like you should, you are ultimately the one who carries the baby and you in the end have the final say. (and you know who I mean!) Also, in the end, you never know what twists and turns life will make, and what will happen. It's not an easy one!

Interesting post by that lady. I have to agree with her on some points, but I really don't like the general tone of the post, it seems accusatory and that there's only one way to do things, not taking into account each couple's situation. Maybe I'm just feeling overly sensitive about this subject :)

Anyway, in my experience, I have found that at least Randy and I have very little control over this aspect of our lives and learning to turn it over to the Lord has been (and is) one of the biggest challenges I have faced. I think like the others have said, only you, Ben and the Lord can answer this based on promptings, prayer, and your own feelings on whether or not you should have another.

Being a mom is so much work - so taxing in so many ways, but there's nothing quite as wonderful either! As hectic as things get with my two kids so far, I always like to think, though, that we would never regret having another should we be given one!
