Awhile back I blogged about feeling my priorities/life were a little out of line, and the need to step back. As I have been pondering this, I have come across lots of people who are feeling the same way. And there is one thing that keeps popping up...not enough time. "I don't have enough time for__________" Right? That happens to all of us. Just fill in the blank with whatever works for the moment. I started thinking about something that eats up my time. A few minutes here, a few minutes there. A half an hour in the morning and an hour ( or more) in the evening. Can you guess what it is? Yes you are right...the internet. How do I love thee internet? Let me count the ways...
**I have found long lost friends thanks to you
** I have been able to keep up with friends and family both near and far
**I have found ways to get gum out of the carpet
**found yummy recipes
**learned about autism
**viewed many scrapbook ideas
**entered and won give aways
**shared triumphs and frustrations
**given & recieved moral support through comments and blog posts
**spent money on all sorts of things
**Instant messaged
** found organizing techniques
**googled for info that I needed
**have good book recommendations
**watched the Harry Potter trailer
**email
** money saving ideas
**decorating ideas
**inspiring messages
I could go on forever. So those are all good things right? But now I am feeling like this...
** I don't have time to do the dishes BUT I do have time to check my facebook page.
** I don't have time to send out birthday cards BUT I do have time to read all my bookmarked blogs
**I don't have time to make dinner BUT I do have time to blurf ( thanks for the term Alisha!)
**I don't have time to read my scriptures BUT I do have time to look at scrapbook layouts for hours
**I don't have time to get my van cleaned out BUT I do have time to blog about funny things my kids say
** I don't have time to scrapbook BUT I do have time to read the entertainment news on my home page.
**I don't have time to organize our under the stairs closet BUT I do have time to play text twirl or the never ending movie quiz
Do you see what I am getting at? yeah I thought so. I am taking a little bit of a break from the computer. Setting a timer and limiting myself to a certain amount every day. So if my blog posts and comments are not as frequent please know, I am still here. Just taking back some of my time. Time to get those priorities back in line. I hope this post makes sense.:)
I am so guilty of doing exactly the same thing Marie. I definately understand trying to limit your time on the internet. Good luck with that from an internet addict!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I have that same problem! But you're right, it's all about priorities. You make time for what you think is important at that moment. Doesn't seem fair, does it!
ReplyDeleteI hope it works out for you. I have my computer time be a reward for getting projects done that i need to do. Maybe that will be motivation.:)
ReplyDeleteI should just say..."dido girlfriend!" I think it's good to take a break and take care of other things! And hopefully you'll be able to manage your time to still share those fun things that are happening in your life!
